Wonderful Original Watercolor Painting by Carole Palmerston, Listed California Artist. 27x21 framed, and 20x16 view size.Palmerston really captures what appears to be a brewing storm in this wonderful watercolor painting. The color of the grassland in front of the barn and ranch house, really helps make the storm seem ominous as it hovers over the barn, ranch house and trees. Great movement. Carole Palmerston won first prize at Las Artistas in Los Angeles in 1958. She exhibited at the Rogue Gallery in Medford, Oregon in 2007-2008. She also frequently exhibited in Taos, New Mexico, at the Golden Willow Gallery in the 1980s. The work is undated on the front, but was very active in the New Mexico/Colorado area in the 1960's and 70's. I have read that she also had many 1 woman shows for her work. The painting, frame and matting are in very good to excellent condition. There is no staining on the mat, just looks that way in the photo. The frame appears original to the painting and has a ruggedness to it, which fits the subject well. There are a couple of small marks on the frame, but I would do nothing to change that, as it all works together very well. I tried to search to find out if the artist is still alive, but haven't found any answers as of yet. Will update when found. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests.
