Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical services to the patients presenting to Saint Agnes Medical Providers, Orthopedic Institute.
Care is provided in accordance with training, experience, and licensure with focus on patient-focused care.
Essential Functions:
1.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; record the normal and abnormal data for review by the physician.
2.
Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
3.
Carry out therapeutic procedures such as cast application and removal, wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress.
4.
Acts as first assist in surgery.
5.
Takes first call on Supervising Physician ED Call days.
6.
Supports Ortho On Demand walk in clinic where necessary.
7.
Supports the goals of the company by meeting patient care productivity requirements as may be set by SAMP.
8.
Works to build the company reputation within the community by providing comprehensive and culturally sensitive quality care.
9.
Provide all necessary documentation in the medical record of care provided to patient, including education, medications, referrals, diagnostic testing and follow-up.
10.
Provide day-to day supervision of support staff with respect to individual patient management.
11.
Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS:
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Excellent computer skills with experience in electronic medical records (EMR).
Excellent organization skills.
Pediatric experience desirable.
Strong communication skills and ability to quickly build rapport with patients.
Strong commitment to working with patients and staff from a wide range of ethnic, economic, cultural and social backgrounds.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years private practice experience in an orthopedic practice and able to treat patients of all ages presenting with minor to serious illnesses or injuries.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Current CA license as an NP or PA required.
Current DEA certification required.
Current BLS required; ACLS preferred.
EDUCATION:
Completion of accredited family nurse practitioner or physician assistant training program.
