Responsibilities:
Individual Duties/Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:
1.
Physical Therapy Assistant:
Under the clinical supervision of the Physical Therapist I or II and the general supervision of the Chief of Restorative Care Service, the Physical Therapy Assistant will carry out individual and group patient care programs or portions thereof as planned by a supervising physical therapist.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
a.
Trains patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
b.
Applies heat and cold, ultrasound and massage, light, in water and therapeutic pools.
c.
Assists patients in positioning and exercise.
d.
Observes and reports the patient's physical condition and response to treatment.
e.
Assists licensed physical therapist in performing tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
f.
Maintains a safe environment for patients.
g.
Maintains treatment areas and equipment in satisfactory operating condition.
h.
Maintains adequate supplies.
i.
Attends clinics.
j.
Stays up to date and completes training courses, workshops, sessions, etc.
mandated by specialty and/or by the Home.
k.
May post patient and treatment data in records.
l.
May prepare reports.
m.
May participate in clerical and reception activities of the physical therapy unit.
Job
Experience:
Physical Therapy Assistant:
a.
Six (6) months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein, in a public or private institution.
b.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a degree or equivalent in physical therapy assisting.
c.
Possession of a current and valid license issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California.
