Under general supervision of the Cal Fresh Healthy Living Coordinator, the CalFresh Healthy Living Educator is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the CalFresh Healthy Living Nutrition Education Program at the Fresno Site and Fresno County.
The CalFresh Healthy Living Educator is responsible for insuring that all programming supports the mission of Catholic Charities and complies with the strategic direction of the agency as determined by the Board of Directors and the Bishop of the Diocese of Fresno.
In addition, performs related work as required by the CalFresh Healthy Living Coordinator or the Executive Director.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Catholic Charities Diocese of Fresno (CCDOF) is a community benefit organization serving families living within the Diocese of Fresno who are in need of food, clothing, housing, and other related support services.
The CalFresh Healthy Living program, is one of several organizational divisions and units within the CCDOF agency.
The CalFresh Healthy Living Program is responsible for coordinating, preparing, and delivering curriculum-based nutrition education to the CalFresh eligible population and other poverty-level participants for the CCDOF.

Implement the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities.
Deliver nutrition/gardening education to targeted audiences, with a focus on adults, seniors, and primary-school age youth, utilizing and maintaining fidelity to CFHL-approved curricula.
Communicate and coordinate with staff, organizations, and volunteers on the upkeep of PSEs such as gardens, physical exercise opportunities, etc.
Independently manage and coordinate the CalFresh Healthy Living Nutrition Education program at the Catholic Charities Fresno by developing and organizing CalFresh Healthy Living activities such as gardening & exercise opportunities for adults, older adults, and children.
The Health Educator will be held responsible for reporting and following deadlines for any local or state reporting agency.
Schedule and deliver all CalFresh on-site direct/indirect education to current Catholic Charities partners such as schools, senior living facilities, and faith-based locations.
Provide regular interaction with center staff and health education partners to support program delivery.
Assists and implements PSE support in conjunction with the CalFresh Healthy Living Project Coordinator to meet grant goals and outcomes.
Document work with each CalFresh Healthy Living direct/indirect site toward accomplishment of program objectives, adoption of behavior changes, and the importance of healthy eating.
Implements curriculums based on community needs by utilizing approved curriculums and supplemental materials.
Weekly submissions of success stories or partnership updates onto the PEARS website.
Adheres and implements Internal Control Policies.
Provide direct/indirect education on a continuous basis in accordance with the CalFresh Healthy Living Grant's scope of work.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Knowledge in the implementation and monitoring of produce gardens & nutrition programs.
Exceptional organizational and administrative skills including the ability to think strategically, plan, set goals and objectives, and then organize and follow-through.
A strong, creative, and compelling speaker and leader with good personal and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrates effective planning and facilitates cooperation and collaboration both internally and with community organizations.
Skills/Abilities to:
Work under general supervision and guidance from the CalFresh Healthy Living Coordinator.
Collaborate cross-functionally with other division managers and agency staff.
Communicate frequently and effectively with the CalFresh Healthy Living Coordinator.
Speak effectively before large groups of participants and potential prospects.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain a high degree of initiative, maturity, integrity, loyalty, accountability, creativity, and good judgment.
Operate a variety of business office equipment and tools; proficiently operate Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation High School and 2 years of college work.
Emphasis on Health and Nutrition Education.
Experience:
One year with Emphasis on Health and Nutrition Education License:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
Other It is preferred that applicants be bilingual proficient in Spanish and English.
