Responsibilities:
- Reviews level of care/status assignment orders - Query physicians and takes initiative to collaborate with departments and CDMP Team when documentation in the medical record/billing system is ambiguous, inadequate, unclear or incorrect for coding and compliance purposes.
- Perform other duties as assigned MUST HAVES:
3 yrs
of Inpatient, Acute Care Hospital experience.
Certified RHIA, RHIT or CCS or CVIRCC Bachelor's in Health Related Field Proficient in computer keyboarding/software applications Advanced written/verbal communication skills to effectively communicate to physicians, documentation specialists, and other depts Demonstrates strong decision making/ problem solving/advanced critical thinking skills Personal initiative to keep abreast of new developments in coding Serves as knowledge expert Expert proficiency in coding convention/automated encoder (knowledge/management of NCCI/OCE billing edits IP Coder:
Expert working knowledge of full range of ICD9 diagnosis codes, procedures, MS-DRG assignment and POA Ability to read/interpret/apply CDMP clinical knowledge/make critical judgements on seeking physician clarification or CDMP team collaboration.
